What do I need to run it?
macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later, and a current version of Final Cut Pro. It installs as a native Final Cut workflow extension. Open it from Window › Extensions and it docks into your workspace.
Where do my files actually live?
In a normal folder, wherever you choose. Your Movies folder by default, or your media drive. Everything stays visible and organized in the Finder, so your library is yours. No database, no lock‑in, nothing hidden.
Does it need an account or an internet connection?
No. No account, no subscription, no server. EZ Import never connects to the internet, so your media stays on your machine.
What exactly is a Block?
A saved Final Cut arrangement: titles, effects, transforms, and the media they use, captured as one reusable item. Drag a compound clip from Final Cut’s browser into the panel to save it. Drag it back into any project and press ⇧⌘G to break it into editable layers again.
Can I use the media I’ve already collected?
Yes, three ways. Drop files into the panel, copy them into the library folders with the Finder, or (cleanest) drop an alias of your existing master folder into the library. Your files stay exactly where they are and the panel sees the whole folder tree.
Does the background removal send my images anywhere?
Never. Cutouts run entirely on your Mac using Apple’s built‑in machine learning. They work offline and your images never leave your computer.
How does the license work?
Right now EZ Import is free while in beta — download it and use it on the Macs you edit on. When it launches it will be a one‑time $49 purchase, never a subscription. Questions or trouble? Email support and the developer answers.
